Pete Keesling
Welcome to my blog all about pets and animals. I’m Dr. Pete Keesling and I have a column every other week in the Morgan Hill Times, Gilroy Dispatch, and Hollister Freelance. It’s a Q&A feature talking about health, nutrition and behavior issues. I’ve been a veterinarian in South County for the past 29 years.

Peg and I raised our 3 children here and intend to stay here even when retirement age comes along. We’re both native to Santa Clara County and can’t imagine going anywhere else. I was raised in Los Altos and Palo Alto in the 50’s and 60’s, and was lucky enough to reach my dream of becoming a veterinarian in 1979. For over 18 years, I took care of both small and large (farm) animals. I also did a PBS television show in San Jose for 11 years called Petpourri. And you may have seen my name associated with Pets.com (I was their staff veterinarian) and Disney.com where I wrote a Q&A column for kids talking about pets. I taught a class called Current Veterinary Therapy in the Animal Health Technician school at Hartnell College in Salinas for 16 years. And just for fun, I now have a radio show called Dr. Pete’s Petpourri heard every Sunday at 1pm on AM 1080 KSCO radio. I’ve never been bored with my profession, because there’s always so much to talk about. And that’s what this blog is all about.

So join me, won’t you? Let’s have some fun together, talking about something your furry or feathered friend has done that may have been interesting or funny. Or you can talk about a trip you took with your pet to some neat place. (Remind me later to tell you about my English Bulldog, Pebbles, and her trip to the snow!) Anything goes here, as long as it’s about pets and animals.
