When you look into Jacques’ big brown eyes, you would do anything to see them twinkle. For the first few days at Humane Society Silicon Valley (HSSV), the tiny dog with huge bat-like ears would cautiously peek out at HSSV staff from under his blanket.  The Papillon mix rarely wavered from his cotton fortress.  His behavior left his care takers with many questions. During Jacques’ routine medical exam, HSSV’s medical staff got the first glimpse into his undisclosed history.  Their team could hear something was wrong with his heart and upon seeing Jacques’ X-rays, confirmed he needed their help. The quiet little guy had Patent Ductus Arteriosus (PDA), which is a scary way of saying he had a hole in his heart.

Kerby is super friendly black cat. He’ll flop around, lay on his back, and just take all the attention he can get. He does have a problem- he doesn’t get along with some cats. So Kerby is in his own cage for now. He would probably be best as an only cat, with people he’s great. Another cat in the house might be OK, if they are mellow and friendly. Like all the cats here at Pet Friends, he’s neutered, vaccinated and healthy. Litterbox trained, playful, and he’s ready for a home of his own. Kerby is an older cat, almost seven now, but he should have many years left to share with his own people. And by the way, some superstitions say a black cat brings good luck to his household.
